It’s kind of embarrassing how long it’s taken me to blog about this session. The truth is, this might be one of my absolutely favorite sessions ever. Because ice cream. And that yellow wall. I mean, amiright?! I’ve been photographing the Smith family for, oh, maybe 4 years now? Even though I’ve moved to the Bay Area, I squeezed in a couple of sessions for some of my favorites when I went back to Dallas to visit family last fall and I was thrilled when they asked to schedule a session!

We met at Melt Ice Creams in Fort Worth, Texas on a Sunday a little before they opened so we could spend some time checking out the giant chalkboard they have mounted to the wall outside. Talk about a statement wall! The kids (and kids at heart) had a great time doodling and writing and playing hopscotch on the sidewalk ’til the doors opened.

Once inside, all bets were off and everyone had a sweet treat. I love the staff at Melt, they’re so awesome every time I’ve been, and the ice cream flavors are always unexpected and satisfying. I highly recommend checking them out if you’re in the area! It was a pleasure shooting this sweet family (see what I did there?) and I can’t wait to see them again!
