Before I come over, here are some things that might help you prep for our session...
HOW SHOULD WE PREP?
Should we get a haircut right before?
No!
Usually haircuts look best a week after the actual cut. Having photos done right after a haircut can look a bit severe so if you're in need of a cut, be sure to schedule it before your session (about a week for short hair or two weeks for longer hair).
Should we bring props?
This depends...
I don't offer props in the studio so if there's anything specific you'd like to include you should bring it! That being said, the beauty of these portraits is the simplicity so I'd bring things that have specific sentimental value instead of something themed. (A favorite lovey vs. a brand new stuffed toy your child has never seen before).
Should we tell the
Kids what's going on?
Um, ya probably
You know your kid best, but
generally kids like to be
aware of what's going on in
their universe, particularly if
that includes going somewhere new and meeting new people.
If your kiddo has a
particularly strong stranger
danger sense, we can set up a
zoom call before the session
so they can "meet" me ahead
of time.
SHOULD WE EAT BEFORE?
Yes!
Let’s face it, we all get hangry
sometimes. I would
definitely feed yourselves
and the kids before. I would
also have some snacks ready
to go if anyone starts to get
hungry during the session.
Just avoid anything that
might stain (leave the Cheetos at home).
SHOULD WE BRIBE THE KIDS TO BEHAVE?
Please don’t
Bribery almost always backfires. My goal is to make photos that show your actual family having fun together, so if you want to offer a treat please do so without tying it to "good behavior". Instead, try to use it as a way to engage your child which in turn makes for good photos. "We're going for ice cream after this, what flavor will you get?"
ANYTHING ELSE WE SHOULD KNOW?
One last thing
I really can't stress this
enough, but what makes my
sessions different is they are
super low pressure. I'm not
expecting anyone to look or
act a certain way. My goal is
to have fun together and get
to know to you with my
camera - that’s it!
That's life, folks! :) I'm not
perfect, you're not perfect,
but it sure is interesting.

I know it can be nerve-racking dressing your family for a photo session - I’ve been there! Here are two different ways to approach styling your outfits.
GO WITH YOUR GUT
Have everyone dress the way they want and embrace the wonderful
mish-mash you end up with! I say mish-mash with love, not judgement. My
favorite personal photos of my family aren’t the perfectly styled ones, but the
ones where we happen to be wearing our favorite clothes at the time. They
remind me of the phase where my daughter would only wear those
glitter-covered light-up Skechers, or how my husband wore his favorite tee
shirt on repeat until it got too holey to be decent in public. You do you!

Immediately after your session, I download my memory card and get to work on your edits. It generally takes two weeks to prep your files and upload them to your gallery.

GALLERY DAY!
2 weeks after your session you'll get
an email with a link to your gallery
and a password. Your gallery is
linked to your specific email so
make a note of your password. First you'll see a slideshow of the photos from your session, and you'll have full access to your photos to download and your gallery shop.

Your session fee includes a print credit that you can use in your online gallery shop! I pre-vet everything I offer, and am a stickler for quality. I guarantee everything I offer in the shop, and can vouch for the color and quality. You are free to print your photos anywhere, but if you want top quality this is where you'll find it!
