The kid got this awesome chemistry kit from my parents for her birthday this year and we finally got around to trying out some of the experiments. She absolutely loves science so any kind of experiment is met with great enthusiasm. She was excited to wear the protective glasses like a real scientist, and was meticulous in her note-taking.

Since we officially decided to homeschool, we’ve been trying to do more hands-on activities that are interesting and fun versus just worksheets or traditional learning. Part of the reason we’re homeschooling is to really nourish that natural curiosity so I’m trying to make things fun while we learn. It’s hard as a parent to figure out what the right move is in terms of your child’s education but since we decided to homeschool I’ve really seen her take interest in things again. Over the last year we saw her get so cranky and just wanting to veg out after school and it was really kind of distressing. This summer we’ve been learning in new ways and honestly she’s been thriving. I don’t think it’s the right move for every kid but it’s been the right move for us.

Would you like to hear more about our homeschool journey? I’ve been thinking about blogging about it a bit more and sharing what we’re doing. Let me know what you think in the comments!
